We are pleased to announce our collaboration with the Sony Music Group for the film scanning of a collection of film based assets from The Eurythmics and Annie Lennox collections. The footage came to us in both 16 and 35mm formats and was made up of the rushes of the many music video shoots they did in the 80’s and 90’s.
The quality of photography and creativity in the footage was breathtaking and truly demonstrated the benefits of shooting film with the new 2k and 4k master footage now far surpassing the quality of the SD tapes, In terms of resolution by up to 16 times more information, but not just that it was the flexibility given by the amount of information stored in the physical film was there for all to see.
The process involved preparing cleaning the film and scanning the rushes to the optimum resolution edge to edge and full range to capture everything on the film frame, the files we re then transferred to the required delivery format for Post Production and then sent over to be matched in terms of the edit, sound and colour to the original version.
The final product was a new 4k master version of the original SD content.
Of course the content could have been digitised from the tape and simply transcoded but with todays quality expectations and display technologies this does not hold up for large display exhibiting.
